Box Art Reimagining: Adam Hughes
As the Year of Lara comes to a close, we have one final box art reimagining to share with you! A lot of you asked, and we wanted to make sure this one happened.
We collaborated with the incredible Adam Hughes to celebrate Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. Hughes is an illustrator and writer who has worked in comics for 35 years and whose portfolio includes Star Wars, Star Trek, Marvel's Avengers, the Justice League, and other big franchises. We know lots of you have admired his Lara Croft and Tomb Raider pieces in the past, so it was very exciting to work with him again!

Hughes' reimagining evokes the grandiosity of Lara and company's supernatural adventure through Egypt, with the scarab-headed god Khepri rising above the ruins in the background. Here's more about his approach to the piece, in his own words:
"I've been drawing Lara Croft for 22 years, starting with PlayStation Magazine covers & interior illustrations in 1999. I've drawn Lara on many comic book covers, and designed statues of her for Sideshow Collectibles. I've been a Tomb Raider fan since my first Lara game, which was Tomb Raider IV: The Last Revelation, and will draw her any chance I get!
For this illustration, I was jazzed do to a proper, good old-fashioned Egyptian adventure setting. Let's face it: adventure can take you anywhere, but there's something special about an adventure that takes you through Egypt. The landscape format of this was a bit of a challenge, since the image has to work across several different croppings. My inspiration for this was the wraparound book covers famed illustrator Drew Struzan did for that other adventurer – the guy with the hat and whip. Those landscape-style artworks made me want to give that unusual format (for me, anyways) a real go!"
We've versioned the art for you to use in different formats, and you can download the full suite below. Be sure to check out more of Adam's work on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
Hughes' art joins the full lineup of box art reimagining's from this year that will be available for purchase during our charity art sale. We'll have more info to share soon! In the meantime, you can print out this beauty and pop it in your game case for an updated look.
