Q & A
What first drew you to the Tomb Raider franchise, and what initially inspired you to cosplay asLara Croft?
Lara is a beautiful adventuress who is strong and sexy. For me, she is the definition of the perfect woman. I cosplay Lara because I want to feel strong in every day life, and she is my model to do so.
What was your very first Lara Croft costume?
My first professional cosplay was Underworld costume in green.
What’s been your favorite Lara Croft costume?
The brown Underworld outfit.
Do you plan to make any additional Lara Croft costumes in the future?
I plan on making both the brown Underworld outfit, and the Legend outfit.
Which Lara costume or prop was the most difficult to construct? Any lessons learned you’d like to share?
For the moment, the most difficult costume to make was Underworld, because the chest patterning was very hard to do! Finding the equipment (I didn’t live in Paris, and I needed to go there to find them) and constructing the costume was long and hard.
Lara Croft’s lifestyle is full of intrigue and adventure. Do you have any memorable photo shoots or convention appearances that pay tribute to Lara’s lifestyle? Have you traveled anywhere exotic that made you feel like a fellow adventurer?
My photo shoot in Vincennes (France) was epic. I plan to go to Nevada and New Zealand again (I travel all time with my family) and other places, like St. Cloud to play with the runes. I’m really excited because it corresponds very much to Lara! When I was in New Zealand, I lived out adventures and I felt like Lara!
What about Lara’s physical strength or mental prowess most inspires you? Has this, or your desire to cosplay Lara, influenced your daily life?
Her strength. Mental and physical, both, I just love her! She inspires me every day to feel good. Without her, I would not be who I am.
