The Tomb Raider fandom is full of talented artists, entertainers, and perhaps most notably, phenomenal cosplay talent. “Croft Couture” aims to showcase these lovely and dedicated women, and give Lara costumers a spot to share their experiences while dressed as gaming’s leading lady.
Hailing from Rome, Croft cosplayer Fuinur has an impressive collection of Lara ensembles and excels at bringing her to life in photos. She’s also quite fashionable when not in costume - having adopted combat boots and camo into her wardrobe thanks to Tomb Raider.

What first drew you to the Tomb Raider franchise, and what initially inspired you to cosplay as Lara Croft?
In 1997, I played Tomb Raider for the first time thanks to my father and a his friend who gave me Tomb Raider II. My love for Lara and Tomb Raider never faded. When I was 8 years old, I loved dressing up like Lara and tried to cosplay her. I started to assemble my first Lara Croft cosplay in 2011. The first costume I ever wore at a convention was the Tomb Raider Legend Biker outfit.
What Lara Croft costume did you tackle first?
My first costume was the regular outfit from Tomb Raider Legend. I’ve remade it several times through the years.
What is your favorite Lara Croft ensemble?
My favourite one is the Tomb Raider II Tibet one. I really love the winter outfits! I also love the various wetsuits, I really hope to do them a day!
What Croft costumes are still on your roster?
I have a lot more costumes to do! Some of them are already in progress. I really want to do the Tomb Raider III South Pacific outfit soon, as well as the Tomb Raider Anniversary one.
Which Lara costume was the most difficult to construct? Was it due to a particular garment or prop?
For me, it was the Tomb Raider Underworld outfit. I went crazy while making the backpack and the holsters! The top and the shorts were also hard to do: the fishnet fabric was especially hard to find. But I’m proud of the result!
Lara Croft’s lifestyle is full of intrigue and adventure. Do you have any memorable photoshoots or convention appearances that pay tribute to Lara’s lifestyle?
I always love when I can do photoshoots in a forest or an environment related to the games. They give a true Lara feeling! Unfortunately, my photos are not professional. They’re usually taken by my friends or by someone from my family. I haven’t found the perfect location yet, but I’m trying my best!
Along the same lines, what’s the most exotic location you’ve traveled to?
I haven’t visited many exotic locations yet. When I travel, I always go camping with my 4x4! I love to go in places that aren’t easy to reach like small deserts in Corsica or abandoned places!
What about Lara’s physical strength or mental prowess most inspires you? Has this, or your desire to cosplay Lara, influenced your daily life?
To me, Lara is an ideal! She’s brilliant, smart, strong, beautiful… and yes, she did influence me a bit! I’m gonna do combat sports like Karate, I love shooting… I also love my Land Rover, which I use a lot to go adventuring!
Lara has also interested me in ancient history, such as Ancient Egypt. She has also some influence over my dressing style: sometimes I get dressed with camo clothes and combat boots!
