The Tomb Raider fandom is full of talented artists, entertainers, and perhaps most notably, phenomenal cosplay talent. “Croft Couture” aims to showcase these lovely and dedicated women, and give Lara costumers a spot to share their experiences while dressed as gaming’s leading lady.

What first drew you to the Tomb Raider franchise, and what initially inspired you to cosplay as Lara Croft?
I remember there being a big hype about the game in the media, and at that time the graphics and game play were very different from what I had played before. Soon after I got the game as a Christmas present along with a PlayStation. From then on I was hooked! I started to cosplay for fun and watched the Lara models for ideas on the outfits.
What Lara Croft costume did you tackle first?
I first made the classic outfit from a top and shorts I already had. I then made the gun belt from old material.
What is your favorite Lara Croft ensemble?
I’d say the classic outfit as it is the most recognizable Lara Croft outfit and takes me back to the classic adventures.
What Croft costumes are still on your roster?
The Sola wetsuit from Tomb Raider 2.
Which Lara costume was the most difficult to construct? Was it due to a particular garment or prop?
I’d say the underworld outfit. I started that again recently, and the panels on the top are hard to sew and get them to look well done. The gun belt also has a lot more detail to it.
Lara Croft’s lifestyle is full of intrigue and adventure. Do you have any memorable photoshoots or convention appearances that pay tribute to Lara’s lifestyle?
I try to do different things when I do photoshoots but in keeping with the game, like climbing, running, and posing how Lara would pose. It can be hard to get the perfect shot and location however, but I am always on the lookout for new places and new ideas. I took pictures in my Reborn outfit with dirt and blood everywhere and my bow and arrow. I got a lot of funny looks from people! But in the future I’d like to use my father’s land rover for classic Lara pictures.
Along the same lines, what’s the most exotic location you’ve traveled to?
I have spent a lot of time visiting the highlands of Scotland and that’s perfect for photoshoots as there are plenty of old ruins and history. I have also visited Spain.
What about Lara’s physical strength or mental prowess most inspires you? Has this, or your desire to cosplay Lara, influenced your daily life?
I love the fact Lara is a woman and can do anything that she puts her mind to, and that she is strong and sexy but not trying to be. She is a good role model for women and I think any woman out there would love to be her. I think she inspires woman to do what they want and give them the confidence to do it. Knowing Lara Croft has given me the ability to be more adventurous with life and live it to the fullest.
